Comedy Drama

“From the Shoulders Down“ by Richard Lynch

After a complete sell out performances at Blessington’s New  Forum Theatre and Moat Theatre Naas, Richard Lynch continues touring with his ever popular ‘From  the  Shoulders  Down’ (embracing the humour and pathos in the life times and labours of P.J Mulpeter. B.L.A (builders labourer anonymous) at Briery Gap Theatre on Sun 21st Mar at 8pm.

Cleverly scripted and performed by Richard, the show has been winning rave reviews and critical acclaim at several venues throughout Ireland, with sell-out shows, standing ovations and return by popular demand bookings for the Autumn.

“Lynch not only wins his audience, he owns them – ‘Leinster Leader’.

“Must be seen by a wider audience.  One of the most recognisable characters you could meet” – ‘Tuam Herald’.

“Original style, cleverly crafted and straight from the heart.  He holds an array of characters in the palm of his hand” – ‘Munster Express’.

P.J. Mulpeter, a builders labourer, from somewhere in the Midlands, possibly the heart of Kildare, begins his final day at work, having ‘soldiered’ for 50 years with the same firm, working under three different generations of the same family.

In a reflective mood he will take you through his early school years in the poverty stricken 1950’s, his first flush of youth and digging foundations and mixing concrete.

We’ll meet ‘The Hat Reilly’ plasterer supreme and the cheeky upstart ‘Clancy’ who wouldn’t be fit to wash the trowel after him, and the boss ‘Oul Murray’ himself.

There’s the Marquee in Kilcullen, Sally Whailain’s Pub and the girl of his dreams who stole his heart while they danced to ‘Eileen Reid and the Cadets’ at Lawlor’s Ballroom, Naas.

We promise you many laughs and possibly a tinge of pity, but above all else, real characters in the flesh and blood, characters that are fast dwindling, but thankfully, there’s still a few around.

This is a unique and novel piece of Comedy Drama.  To say more

would reveal too much and spoil the mystique  Don’t miss it.
