Plot Synopsis

Sylvia follows the deeply passionate if troubled marriage between two poets - the American Sylvia Plath and Englishman Ted Hughes. It also unravels the contradictions in Plath’s life which increasingly consumed her as she balanced her need to write with her love for, and responsibilities to, her family. Plath and Hughes’ relationship is as notorious as that of any other literary couple of the last century, and this screen version, is truly a writers’ film - one that acknowledges the pleasure and pain of all creative endeavours.
"Daring & Inspired..... Rivets you to your seat...... Paltrow's performance is astonishing" - Times
"Inspired...An achingly beautiful and compelling portrait" - Harpers & Queen
"...an emotionally rich biography of the poet Sylvia Plath, who is played with radiant conviction by Gwyneth Paltrow" - New York Times
