Plot Synopsis
Richard Jobson's third directorial feature film is a romantic ghost story shot entirely on location in gothic Edinburgh. It tells the story of an astronomer who embarks on a passionate and destructive love affair with a beautiful and mysterious French photographer.
Following the critical success of 16 Years of Alcohol, A Woman in Winter pushes the boundaries of storytelling, utilising the latest digital technology to deliver one of 2005’s most original films. Richard explains “With A Woman in Winter I am trying to show Scottish culture in a positive, enlightened way. Hopefully the audience will see that Edinburgh has joined the 21st Century. This is a film about big ideas, and has been made using the very latest digital technology.”
